Frequently Asked Questions

Are the repairs guaranteed?

Yes. We guarantee all repairs performed at Kniesel’s Collision, Inc. with a limited lifetime warranty.

Do I have the right to select the shop that will repair my car?

Yes. You can choose Kniesel’s regardless of whether it is on your insurance provider’s preferred list. Just drop your vehicle off at Kniesel’s and notify your insurance company.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. Kniesel’s will evaluate the damage and provide a no-obligation, free estimate.

Do I have to get more than one estimate?

Generally, you do not need to get estimates from multiple repair centers. However, your insurance company may need to inspect the damage. If they have a drive-in claims service and your car is in driving condition, make an appointment to have your damage evaluated. Be sure to ask for a copy of their estimate and bring it with you to Kniesel’s.  If your agent tells you to obtain multiple estimates, talk to your insurance claims department to confirm their requirements.

Do I need to make an appointment to get a repair estimate?

Due to the high volume of work within all locations, all estimates are by appointment only. Please feel free to contact us to schedule an appointment. Our hours are Monday – Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Please visit our locations page for further information. Alternatively, we now offer online photo estimates as well as in-person estimate appointments.

Do I need to pay anything when I drop off my car?

No. After the repair work is complete, you pay us only your insurance deductible (if you have one). If you have already received a payment from the insurance company, we will work with you to determine what needs to be paid to Kniesel’s.

Does the shop receive payment from my insurance company or do I pay for the repairs?

Kniesel’s works with your insurance company for payment. You are only responsible for the deductible (if you have one) and/or any betterment, if applicable.

How do I get a rental car?

We are happy to set up a rental reservation for you, coordinated with the drop off of your vehicle. Most insurance policies help cover the cost of the rental. Please contact the Kniesel’s nearest you for details.

How long will my repair take?

Your account manager will provide an estimate based on the damage to your vehicle. Occasionally, once the repair process has begun, unforeseen conditions may arise that require additional parts or time. We will keep you informed every step of the way and will work with you to get you back up and running as soon as we can.

What forms of payment does Kniesel's Collision accept?

We accept cash, checks issued by an insurance company, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and ATM/Debit cards. Unfortunately we are unable to take personal checks.

What should I do after an auto accident?

If anyone is injured, call 911 immediately. If no one is hurt, gather the following information for each of the parties involved in the accident: name, driver license number, vehicle license plate, insurance information. If there are any witnesses, gather their names and phone numbers. Note the time, date, and location of the accident. If you have a camera or cell phone with a camera, photograph the accident scene and the damage to the vehicles. Contact your insurance company.

Notify the Police: If anyone involved in the accident will not provide, or does not have, a driver license or insurance, contact the police and your insurance company immediately.

Will my car be as good as it was before the accident?

We use state-of-the-art equipment and expertly trained technicians to ensure the damaged areas of your vehicle are repaired to the same level of quality as when they were new.

Will the repairs start immediately after I drop off my car?

We work to get your vehicle back to you as soon as possible. Your Account Manager can provide an estimate of when the work will be completed.
